Dried cranberries taste similar to raisins and are perfect in muesli or as a snack. The cranberry, also known as mossberry, is a berry shrub belonging to the blueberry family. Its natural habitat is the bogs of eastern North America, where it is still cultivated on a large scale. Characteristic of the bright red cranberries, which are about the size of a small cherry, are the four air chambers inside the fruit, allowing for a special harvesting method involving flooding the fields. Fresh cranberries have an acquired, tart, and slightly sour taste, but when dried, the acidity largely gives way to a sweet flavor.
