The fig is one of the oldest domesticated plants and is now cultivated throughout the Mediterranean region, especially in Turkey. The round figs, with their green to dark purple skin and red flesh, grow on small trees. Mini figs have an even more intense flavor and generally a thinner skin than regular figs, although skin thickness can vary from variety to variety.
