Pecan kernels look similar to walnut kernels. However, pecans are significantly sweeter and milder in taste. Just a handful of pecan kernels is enough to consume a sufficient amount of unsaturated fatty acids. Pecan kernels also contain many minerals and trace elements, such as calcium, magnesium, potassium, iron, and zinc.

Pecan trees, which can grow up to 30 meters tall, originate from the warm climates of North America and are still cultivated there today, primarily in the USA and Mexico, but also in Australia. These trees, which also yield the highly prized hickory wood, belong to the walnut family. Although the pecan is related to the walnut, its shell, which is very thin and can be opened without a nutcracker, is more reminiscent of a very large hazelnut. The pecan kernel is more similar to that of a walnut, but tastes considerably sweeter.

Pecan kernels were a popular food among Native Americans due to their high nutritional value, and they were also used as an ideal food source in the early days of space travel. In fact, pecan kernels have the highest nutritional value of all nuts and are rich in minerals and unsaturated fatty acids. Because of their delicious, sweet flavor, pecans are primarily sold raw, with or without their shells, and are ideal for cooking and baking, as decoration, in desserts, and of course, for snacking.
