The sunflower belongs to the daisy family and is native to North and Central America, but now also grows in Europe and Asia. The sunflower seed, which has a hard, grayish shell usually covered with black stripes, is called a sunflower seed. Sunflower seeds consist of almost 90% healthy unsaturated fatty acids. They also contain vitamins A, B, D, E, and K, as well as calcium, iodine, magnesium, and iron.
